Possibly the best and pleasant stay, especially in winter time. Particularly good breakfast, with a good choice of food and beverages. - Quiet and reasonably priced setting, located on a tranquil hillside with mountain views and close to the city center. - Free transport provided by the ryokan. - Great choice for a trip.

We met flexible and decent employees.
our accommodation was set in a central location so close to the free transport that the ryokan provided and the attractions. it also was close to sightseeing hida folk village.

Peaceful and reasonably priced position, I liked staying in this place.
I lovely spend 2 nights in Takayama. My japanese-style twin room was equipped with an electric kettle, a fridge, and air conditioner. Overlooked street. The continental breakfast was the reason I would love to come back here some time...

It was very interesting to stay in a Ryokan. There was a free shuttle to and from the railway station. We had a very large room. It was very close to the Folk Museum.
We enjoyed everything about our stay there.

Helpful, friendly owners and staff. They went out of their way to ensure a coeliac dinner was prepared within the constraints of a traditional Japanese meal. We inadvertently left our passports in their safe and they efficiently couriered them to our next destination. They hire out electric bikes which were a wonderful, fun experience. An excellent location for an authentic traditional Japanese experience.

A great experiences on the Japanese home stay. The room space is very big and my family (2adults + 2 kids) had a great stay overall. It is a family run home hotel, the owners are friendly and helpfull. A few minutes walk to the Hida old folk village.
Do not expect broad view to the open surrounding as the hotel is in the cluster old housing area. The shower area/ spa is public sharing.

I loved this place! It was such a surprise to find the Takayama historic village within walking distance. A total fluke and highlight of my trip to Japan. The only reason I found this place was because of Booked.net!
There was no easily available taxi service and it is quite a distance to town -- too far to walk.

We had a wonderful experience at Ryokan Murayama in Takayama. The traditional Japanese style and quiet surroundings made it a truly authentic stay. The spacious room with a comfortable futon bed was perfect for a good night's sleep. The onsen downstairs was a great option for a relaxing shower and bath. The staff, although with limited English, were extremely kind and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this ryokan for a basic, yet traditional Japanese experience.

We reach the hotel in the afternoon hence we can locate the hotel without much problem (by car) . If we reach Takayama after sunset, we may have problem to locate the hotel.Takayama city is very small most of the shop close at 5 pm. and not easily to locate a parking space in the city, also very little beautiful spots, we are using Takayama as a transit point for Shirakawago and Okuhida Onsen
All Twin room without attached bathroom is acceptable, but without a attached toilet is not so ideal. The breakfast of JPY 1200 is too expensive. and we do not know what type of food will be provided.fyi We are able to get a good breakfast at JPY700 at KANAZAWA.
